Australia's women rally back

There is renewed optimism for Australian women's tennis with the Jun 1999 Wimbledon upset of Martina Hingis by 16-year-old Jelena Dokic, of Sydney. There are also high expectations for 18-year-old Alicia Molik, and officials believe the two will inspire others to achieve greatness in women's tennis. Officials speculate that the psychological pressure of professional tennis on young girls may be the reason for its decline in Australia.

Australian tennis player Jelena Dokic insists on playing tennis after being removed for misusing the chances that were given to her and thus showing Australia in bad limelight. She insists on playing for Australia and proving her desire to be the best and even though she lost matches, she has won many to let her desire down.
