Are the environmental benefits of electric vehicles being oversold?

Article Abstract:

Debate over the environmental benefits of electric automobiles separates automotive traditionalists from future-thinking realists. The former group claims that gasoline fuel cars are becoming more efficient, producing less emissions than they once did and far superior to electrics in terms of performance and options. The latter group claims that the US's dependance on foreign oil could be significantly lessened if electric cars were used. They point out that the transportation sector accounts for nearly two-thirds of all the oil used in the US, and that if 22% of today's cars were electric it would save one million barrels of oil per day.

The repercussions from this incident will affect the Navy's previously indifferent treatment of women who are sexually assaulted.
