Meeting of the minds
Article Abstract:
The Congress of Learned Societies annual meeting was held in St John's, Newfoundland. Around 5000 scholars from a wide diversity of fields attended the conference. They discussed esoteric topics in linguistics, music and the social sciences. Author E Annie Proulx gave a humorous talk.

Article Abstract:
There are almost 100,000 annual visitors to Grand Pre, which was a center of Arcadian life before the mass deportation of 1755 to 1763. The epic poem 'Evangeline' is responsible for much of the interest in Grand Pre.
