After losing his job as an equity analyst with Salomon Smith Barney during the 2002 layoffs on Wall Street, David Riedel launched a Web-based securities research company specializing in analysis of Southeast Asian companies. Beginning with $200,000 in capital, he started Reidel Research Group in his loft apartment in Manhattan, acquiring within a year 6 clients who each pay $60,000 a year for the highly specialized research his firm offers. Due to lower wages offered in Asia, and his ability to utilise the Internet, his revenues exceed overhead costs, and he believes he'll reach his goal of 30 subscribers within a year.

1,776-Foot Design Is Unveiled For World Trade Center Tower

Article Abstract:

NY Gov. George Pataki launched the unveiling of the Freedom Tower design for the World Trade Center's first skyscraper to be rebuilt by 2008 or 2009. A joint effort by architects David Libeskind and David M. Childs, the 1,776-foot building will feature a fusion of cables, windmills and antennas above 70 floors of office space. It will make the building the tallest in the world. The former Windows on the World restaurant plans to secure space to restore the availability of a restaurant overlooking the city, New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty.
