A sad legacy

Article Abstract:

Twenty years have passed since the US withdrawal from Saigon, which marked the end of US participation in the Vietnam War, but the conflict continues to be a divisive issue. Both historians and ordinary Americans see the war as a tragic failure, but a consensus on the war's lessons has been elusive.

Article Abstract:

Kobe, Japan, was struck by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake on Jan 17, 1995, which killed 4,900 and injured 26,000. More than 10,000 buildings were leveled in the earthquake raising concerns about the quality of building construction. Some criticized the government for its slow response to the disaster.
