Article Abstract:

The return to popularity of cigars in the US has opened to question the origins of many of the slang terms related to them. The term 'stogie,' used to refer to a cheap cigar, is believed to have come from the word Conestoga, which is a valley in Pennsylvania where tobacco was grown.
