IBM is introducing its new 'concept' laptop computer called the ThinkPad TransNote. The computer opens like a book and, when closed, looks like a portfolio which measures 13x11x1.3 inches. The left side of the book holds a regular pad of paper and a double-ended ball point and plastic stylus pen. The right side of the book is a computer screen, which can operate folded as a tablet computer but also lifts up, revealing a keyboard underneath. The screen can be lifted, pivoted and even flipped over to face the audience for presentations.

Apple Computer Inc. has announced its new thinner and lighter notebook computer, the PowerBook G4. The new laptop computer is one-inch thick and made of titanium, which is strong and light, but has a tendency to get hot. It measures 13.4 by 9.5 inches and is the fastest-ever laptop manufactured by Apple. The computer screen measures 15.2 inches on the diagonal and has 1,152 by 768 pixels.
