New documents cast a new perspective on the merger between Toronto, Ont.-based Rogers Communications Inc. and Montreal, Que.-based Groupe Videotron Ltd. Salomon Smith Barney Canada Inc., the financial adviser for Videotron, portrayed Videotron as the acquirer of Rogers.

Videotron board formally rejects Quebecor bid

Article Abstract:

Groupe Videotron Ltee has rejected a $5.9 billion takeover bid from Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec and Quebecor Inc. Videotron, which is Quebec's largest cable television company, also received an acquisition bid from Rogers Communications Inc.
