Boston Chicken, which operates Boston Market restaurants, shuttered 178 of its 1,143 restaurants as part of its filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Oct. 5, 1998. The cash-strapped fast-food chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection to facilitate the completion of its restructuring plan by Oct. 17, 1998. The closures, which comes just six months after turnaround expert J. Michael Jenkins was called in to revive the money-losing chain, leaves 950 Boston Markets open in 19 states. Article Abstract:
McDonald's Corp has finally succeeded in opening a full-menu restaurant inside a Disney theme park. The fast food restaurant chain is slated to inaugurate a branch inside Disney's new California Adventure theme park on Feb 8, 2001, simultaneous with the park's launching. This branch, however, will not carry the McDonald's name, but will be called Burger Invasion. This is a move by Disney to play down the commercialism inside the theme park. The two companies are expected to launch more ventures together as they signed a 10-year partnership agreement.
