Article Abstract:

The dispute over state rights between the federal Liberal party government of Australia and the eight state and territory Labor Party governments, is described. The federal government wants to abolish state industrial relations systems, replace it with a single national system, and curtail the freedom with which the states spend their revenue from the GST.
