Article Abstract:

Vetronics, complex arrays of electronic and optronic systems, have made the conventional tank a more efficient tool for fighting. The term, a result of the technological trend in tank design that began in the 1970s, refers to a broad category of hardware that are associated with the current design of the main battle tank. It includes such equipment as night sights, defensive aids systems, digital fire-control systems, radios and datalinks, navigation systems and battle-management systems.

Aiming for light, lean and mean

Article Abstract:

The quest for lighter and more lethal small weapons continues throughout the world. The increasingly diverse role of the military, ranging from peacekeeping to peace making, has fueled a need for smaller, less expensive weapons that deliver the same or better firepower. This has led to the development of sniper rifles with vastly improved functions, sidearms with heavier, deadlier rounds and assault rifles that offers a more precise shooting performance.
