Upgrade of Swiss F/A-18s nears Phase 2

Article Abstract:

RUAG Aerospace (Emmen, Switzerland) is beginning its Phase 2 of the Upgrade 21 programme for the Swiss Air Force's 33 Boeing F/A-18C/D Hornet fighter aircraft in January 2006. Phase 2 involves installation of a Multifunction Information Distribution System (MIDS) Low-Volume Terminal (LVT), adaptation of the cockpit to allow the pilot to use the VSI Joint Helmet-Mounted Cueing System, modification of the LAU-7P/A launcher rail and installation of the new OFP 19C(S) software.

Italian Army looks to Centauro VBC to meet requirement for infantry combat vehicle

Article Abstract:

The Italian Army is planning to place an order in mid-2006 with IVECO Defence Vehicles Division (DVD) for 250 examples of the Centauro Veicolo Blindado da Combattimento (VBC) 8x8 infantry fighting vehicle. The VBC fourth prototype began trials with the Italian Army in 2005 and its design was awaiting approval by the end of that year but final number procured by the Italian Army might rise to 430 vehicles.

RUAG Land Systems prepares for reduced Swiss army orders

Article Abstract:

Swiss based company RUAG Land Systems has braced itself for reduced orders from the Swiss army. RUAG will concentrate more on export orders to the United Arab Emirates but more importantly the company will also look for opportunities in the field of logistic support since the Swiss army is expected to get this outsourced.
