The ULTRA Armored Patrol (AP) vehicle, a one-of-a-kind concept developed by a team from the Georgia Tech Research Institute and automotive reengineering experts with NASCAR experience, is a planned replacement for Humvees, the family of armored cars. The main focus of the ULTRA armored patrol (AP) vehicle is to improve occupant survivability during improvised explosive device (IED) attack, mine blast, small arms fire or simple road accident.

Marines deploying to Iraq are adopting Counter Insurgency (COIN) surveillance technology, developed by Lockheed Martin Corp. that are common among large metropolitan police departments. COIN is a system of tools that would allow Marines to rigorously watch insurgent activity in order to detain suspects and get a better view of how the wider insurgency operates.

The United States has plans to implement new tactics in the future to apply to a fast-breaking crisis, in which the combat commanders would be able to rocket a squad of Marines to the scene of emergency anywhere in the world within two hours. The launch of this unmanned vehicle or even robots at any place of crisis may have psychological impact on the people.
