The replacement of every major combat formation in Iraq and Afghanistan, the largest coordinated redeployments of overseas units since World War II, is reported. Some are skeptical about this move, as replacement of the experienced units removes the local knowledge information, which is vital to combat unconventional threats, and also rotating units will be vulnerable to terrorist attacks during the changeover.

The redeployment from 2nd Infantry Division in Korea to Iraq is a blessing in disguise for the United States troops. The important implication of the redeployment is that it breaks a strategic log-jam that has immobilized a considerable portion of the Army's active combat power for decades.
