USAF's B-2A, B-52H and B-1B bombers are empowered to attack virtually anywhere in the world in 18 hours as the USAF, through Air Expeditionary Forces, is exerting efforts to revolutionize, broaden and deepen the concept of long range airpower. The heavy bombers are equipped with new types of ammunitions capable of destroying hundreds of armored targets on just one pass. With their new precision weapons, these bombers could destroy infrastructure and time-critical enemy command-and-communications nodes, among other targets.

The US Air Force will keep its most critical program going for at least another year under the terms of a House-Senate-White House deal on the F- 22 fighter. The F-22 program has been allotted $2.5 billion under the compromise appropriations bill signed by Pres Clinton on Oct 25, 1999. Under the deal, F-22 would stay in development and but will enter production. The program has been allowed to stay to permit more robust testing of avionics, stealthiness and weapon delivery systems.

Officials of the US Air Force are confident that they will be able to meet the requirements set by the US Congress for the F-22 fighter aircraft by Dec 2000. The two toughest requirements mandated by Congress, which are necessary to begin the low-rate initial manufacturing of the aircraft, include the condition that Block 3.0 of the plane's avionics should be compatible with Raptor 4004. Another condition is that Raptor 4006 should be able to make its initial flight.
