Inversion techniques for acoustic and geoacoustic properties

Article Abstract:

A tomographic inversion experiment was conducted off the south of Elba island, Italy in 1994. The experiment was able to gather exhaustive high-quality broad-band acoustic, geophysical and oceanographic data. Tomographic inversion analyses acoustic properties from a model of a geoacoustic environment transversed by a sound field. The gathering techniques and inversion techniques for shallow water inversion should take into account factors such as the inconstancy of the ocean volume in time and space distinctive in a particular environment.
