India, Pakistan prepare for talks on Kashmir

Article Abstract:

Under severe international pressure, India and Pakistan have agreed to hold talks aimed at reducing tension in the region, widely thought of by many as one of the most volatile places in the world. Comprehensive dialogue between the neighbors will mean discussing Kashmir, where according to the Pakistani viewpoint India should make territorial concessions that no Indian Government would agree to, just as no Pakistan Government would agree to convert the Line of Control to an international border.

Kashmiri ceasefire fails to deliver peace

It is likely that the six-month old ceasefire agreement in the Kashmir region will be extended, although tensions remain. Islamic insurgents have been waging a war for independence for some 12 years.

Kashmir peace talks collapse

Article Abstract:

Peace talks in Kashmir have broken off, after two weeks of negotiations. The largest Islamic separatist organization in the area, Hizbul Mujahideen, has declared that it wants war.
