Denmark leases Swedish submarine

Article Abstract:

Sweden in Feb 2001 delivered an air-independent propulsion submarine, called HMS Nacken, to be leased to Denmark. The submarine is undergoing a communications system refit, being conducted by Swedish shipyard, Kockums. Under the terms of the lease, Denmark will pay for the submarine in three installments of $3.3 million, with a final down payment in 2005 if they choose to retain it. Also, the Danes have the option of returning the submarine.
