Antiarmor operations

Article Abstract:

The article describes how a Marine air-ground task force (MAGTF) would render enemy armor ineffective. Marines will require equipment that ranges from prompt close air support to effective direct fire weapons to counter armor threat. This starts with the MAGTF commander who will exploit improved information operations and situation awareness to confuse, deceive and render immobile the enemy. Concentrating on operational objectives, landing force maneuver units will use this capability to avert direct contact with enemy, go around enemy surfaces and attack gaps in the enemy's defenses to eliminate its effectiveness. Future engagements will require Marines to operate in an urban terrain with noncombatants, thus requiring it to increase reliance on nonlethal weapons.
