Anselme Enerunga, Minister of the Environment at the Democratic Republic of Congo comments on the country's first democratic elections for 45 years which were held on 30 July 2006, with second rounds run-off of the presidential election due on 29 October. He firmly believes that President Kabila, the Force Democratiques de Liberatin du Rwanda (FDLR) and the current Rwandan government are in league together.

Democratic Republic of Congo elections offer hope of stability

Article Abstract:

The Democratic Republic of Congo's post war transition is due to conclude as its first democratic elections in over 40 years are scheduled for July 30, 2006 even with fighting continuing in the east. Even as running the election will present challenges, the elections offer hope of stability for a country still struggling with a nine-year old war.
