Article Abstract:
The United States and Saudi Arabia relationship has come under more strain since the September 11 2001 attacks. However, President Bush's hospitality towards Prince Bandar bin Sultan, a Saudi envoy in Washington was a gesture of friendship in order to signal his desire to remain on good terms with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a key supplier of the West's crude oil and a highly influential player in Gulf and Arab politics.

New Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Richard B. Myers, told the Senate Armed Services Committee that the Department of Defense should place new emphasis on homeland defense in wake of the terrorist attacks of September 11. He also discussed the transformation of the military to meet threats under unified efforts of the DOD. Other issues of the aerospace world are also presented.
