Article Abstract:
The French Navy in 2006 is honing itself by developing a raft of modern assets and capabilities that are resolutely multipurpose, and training its 55,000-strong personnel accordingly while working toward the '2015 Model', set out in the 1991 White Paper. However in 2006, in the corridors of the French Naval Headquarters in Paris, there is a sense that even if missions and circumstances have changed since the White Paper, the force that France is fashioning as well adapted to modern strategic environment and flexible enough for a variety of missions.

Commander Hallvard Flesland, Captain Designate, KNM Fridtjof Nansen, Royal Norwegian Navy (RNoN) discusses about his expectations of the enhanced capabilities offered by the RNoN's brand- new Aegis frigate, KNM Fridtj Nansen. He believes that the new frigates will play an important role in the navy 's responsibility to maintain maritime warfare.

Operational Sea Training courses bring a ship and its company up to operational readiness. The training ensures that the sailors are transformed into a deployable crew with insight into the roles of others, an understanding of how best to achieve their own and a realization of how to complement the two to facilitate the command aim.
