National guard and reserve members are waiting to gain access to year round military health care benefits. Senate, in passing its version of the 2004 defense authorization bill, included a provision that would allow guardsmen and reservists to enroll in Tricare for modest fees and the benefits that are enjoyed by this triple plan are detailed.

President Bush signed into law the National Defense Authorization act for Fiscal 2004 on November 24 2004, which presented increase in military pay and benefits for active duty members, retirees and reservists. The details of this are discussed along with that of Medicare part B penalty and 'Keep the Promise' Bill.

The Fiscal 2005 National Defense Authorization Act passed by Congress in mid-October 2004 is a sharp rise over several years in Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) annuities for 270,000 beneficiaries age 62 and older. Some other personnel highlights of the defense authorization act for Fiscal 2005 are discussed.
