Article Abstract:

The defense authorization bill, which contains several cliffhanger issues, is still awaiting Congress' approval. Authorizers are agreeing that there should be a phase out of the age-62 offset in the Survivor Benefit Plan, but are disagreeing on the length of the plan. The dispute regarding building military family housing on and off the base are discussed.

The central theme for the new US Air Force Chief of Staff, Gen. T. Michael Moseley is achieving complete integration of service efforts and making interdependency of the armed services. Intelligence is an incredible force multiplier, and Moseley plans to enlarge and reinvigorate the Air Force's personnel structure in this field.
