The Defence Ministers of the 24 European Union member states participating in the European Defence Agency met in Brussels to agree on a code of conduct on defence procurement on 21st November 2005. This move reflects the member states' perception of the need for decisive progress towards the creation of an internationally competitive European defence equipment market to strengthen the European defence technological and industrial base.

The new Defence Strategy of South Africa's Department of Defence (DoD) aims to establish the strategic intent for the execution of the DOD's core business, which is to provide effective defence for a democratic South Africa. Some of the substrategies like Employ Forces Strategy and the Force Support Strategy, which fall under Africa's main Military Stratgy are discussed.
