2d MEB participates in Exercise Dynamic Mix

Article Abstract:

Roughly 4,500 US Marines and sailors from II MEF and the 24th MEU(SOC) participated in the NATO-led military exercise in Greece. The event, called Exercise Dynamic Mix, involved the participation of 14 NATO member states and approximately 15,000 military personnel. The US Marine Corps provided more than one-third of the participating personnel. The major subordinate commands consisted of the 6th Marines as the ground combat element, MAG-26 as the aviation combat element, and the Brigade Service Support group 2 as the combat service support element.

An attempt is made to expand the scope of joint professional military education, thus the various programs initiated by the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS), who are held responsible for establishing the policies, procedures, guidelines, and objectives for joint officer professional education are detailed. Several new joint professional military education (JPME) initiatives that are introduced to operationalize the Secretary and ChairmanEs vision of joint education are highlighted

The battle of Fonte Hill, Guam, 25-26 July 1944

Article Abstract:

The battle of Fonte Hill that ensued between the U.S. military and the Japanese Army's 29th division when U.S. forces descended on Asan beach in July 1944 in an effort to invade Guam has been described. Despite the heavy casualties inflicted by the Japanese due to their advantageous position overlooking Asan beach, the result was an American victory that broke the back of organized Japanese resistance on Guam.
