Article Abstract:

A number of reports must be filed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) by broadcasters. The Annual Employment Report of the FCC covers a single pay period during January, February or March of every year. EEO Program Report gives details about the programs and the people behind implementing it. The Annual Ownership Report applies only to corporate licensees. The Non-commercial Ownership Report is due within 30 days of any alteration in any information mentioned on the form. Moreover, any contract or agreement must be reported to the FCC within 30 days.

Children's TV commercials

Article Abstract:

FCC has imposed stricter measures on advertisements aired during children's programs. Under the Children's Television Act of 1990, air time restrictions for television commercials have been outlined. Likewise, careful monitoring of products advertised during children's shows should be observed. Fines ranging from $10,000 to $20,000 havebeen imposed on several television stations found to be constant violators of the new law.

Network rules

Article Abstract:

The FCC has already repealed its Network Station Ownership Rule and Secondary Affiliation Rule in recognition of new market realities. Both rules were designed to promote competition in the TV marketplace but new technologies and services have made such protections obsolete. The commission is currently in the process of evaluating other rules to determine if they should likewise be repealed.
