Article Abstract:
The lack of governance in freelance employment practices has made freelancers in broadcasting industry susceptible to exploitation. In this light, Pact's offer to renegotiate the contract with independent production companies may be termed as tentative relief measure not a permanent solution. It is also a confined area where media secretary, Ofcom or broadcasters are unwilling to tread. The reasons for this hesitation on part of authorities are discussed.
