Filing of contracts with the FCC

Article Abstract:

The FCC requires broadcasters to file network affiliation agreements, ownership documents, personnel contracts, and time brokerage agreements. License renewals, changes, and cancellations in network affiliation also need to be filed. Mortgage or loan agreements that limit the freedom of operation should be filed with the FCC. All the documents described above should be filed within 30 days of their execution with the FCC Secretary.

Issues/programs lists

Article Abstract:

Every radio station must maintain a community issues/programs list in its public file or risk penalties from the FCC. The lists are filed quarterly and contain descriptions of community issue programming broadcast during the quarter. Program descriptions should include time and date information; lists should cover 5 to 10 issues. An example of a issues/programs list format is included.

Public service standards

Radio and television broadcasters should record public service announcements in the Public Inspection Files of the Federal Communications Commission to avert lawmakers from drafting new regulations. Quarterly updates should include detailed descriptions of the station's most significant programing. Broadcasters should also file records of community activities or sponsorships.
