News coverage is honest only if the paper is not lobbying for vested interests but working in the public interest, without catering merely to topics, factions or sources. The difference of opinion regarding honest and unbiased reporting stem from the relative nature of public perception about bias. News agencies should provide the public with information not only about what they want to know, but also what is important for them to know. Allegations of unfair reporting act as a catalyst for introspection among journalists.
