Granada Television Controller of Drama Simon Lewis has several new drama productions under development. He is constantly looking for drama which tackles new directions, particularly those which do not feature police or medical storylines. He is willing to consider commissioning adaptations of classic stories and modern dramas. Lewis is charged with the difficult task of finding replacements for hit programs, such as 'Cracker.' Lewis works closely with Sally Hogg, who is his deputy at Granada. Lewis joined Granada from United Films and Television Productions, in 1997.

Tom Kinninmont, one of the co-founders of Independent Image is leaving, and remaining partner, David Wickham is focusing on staying profitable. Some of the revenue producing contracts in the past include retaining the book rights to sports documentary "More than a Game", investing money to retain television show rights and producing a daytime show where the complete contract was worth 8 million pounds sterling.

Many UK independent television producers have recently been commissioning their shows over to US producers. Various UK-based shows, such as 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire?,' have experienced great success in the US. With this startegy, UK independent producers can double their strengths by airing their shows both in the US and the UK.
