Article Abstract:
Motion control technology enables producers to pre-plot intricate moves with computer software, repeatedly filming moves knowing they will always be identical, and then multi-layer to produce special effects. The system, filmed from a camera rig, is extremely precise and enables live film to be linked to 3D animation. Camera rigs can be hired, housed in their own studio, from a cost of between 2,850 and 3,000 pounds sterling for a 10-hour day. To buy the full rig could cost up to 510,000 pounds sterling. Suppliers include SVC, Cell and Milo.
