Sony Pictures Entertainment plans to use broadband as way of opening up new markets for its content. The company plans to do so through its Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment division, which was launched in March 2000. The division operates in the following areas: it oversees the production of digital and computer-generated imaging content; it strives to develop new online content and interactive programming using the studio's film and TV libraries; and it is working towards developing digital downloading of movies and other content.
