Article Abstract:
Talk Radio's new owners have replaced managing director Paul Robinson, director of programs John Simons and commercial director Stan Park on Nov. 6, 1998 with a new executive team amidst talks that the move might have been triggered by their participation in an attempted management buyout of the station. Taking over as new chairman and chief executive officer is Kelvin MacKenzie while Jonathan Goodwin, the transaction negotiator, is designated as chief financial officer. A legal challenge is reported to be under consideration by the oustered executives over the abrupt change in management, which also saw the appointment of Mike Parry as the new program director and Jason Bryant as consultant.

GWR Group has failed to gain the favor of the Broadcasting Standards Commission (BSC) regarding its complaint against a BBC Radio 3 (R3) promotion. GWR CEO Ralph Bernard alleged that R3's promotional material is designed to damage its competitor Classic FM. BSC ruled that the allegedly damaging part of the campaign that says "R3 has more than just famous extracts of classical music" was only incidental. BSC further said the trailers only described R3's music policy and does not influence viewers to change their impression of Classic FM's content.
