David Hulbert, who is Disney's cheif for Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, intends to expand the broadcaster's reach and to compete firecely against rivals Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network as Disney stresses the action genre. Hulbert also plans to take serious action against the B.B.C. if it is able to enter the children's channels market, as it has proposed.

National Geographic Channel is adding more populist-style shows, such as game shows, and boosting science, world cultures and adventure programming, while decreasing its emphasis on natural history documentaries. National Geographic Television, which broadcasts in 133 countries via National Geographic Channels Europe and National Geographic Channels International, is attempting to catch up to Discovery Networks, which operates nine channels in Europe. Article discusses some of the changes planned for National Geographic's programming.
