Article Abstract:
Sally Head has spent the last six years establishing a drama department at Granada, but has recently moved to become controller of drama at Granada sister company LWT. Some observers believe that she will have little scope for innovation in her new role and that she will face even more challenges than she faced at Granada. However, she believes that she will be able to extend the drama department's coverage far beyond its only two really successful products, 'London's Burning' and 'The Knock.'

Beyond International CEO Mikael Borglund has led the company in making A$6.2 million amidst making major operational changes, while John Stephens made a difficult move from Nine Network to Seven Network as head of program strategy and acquisitions. Ulster Television, ITV franchise holder in Northern Ireland, is commited to providing regional programming. It is not very interested in providing shows for the ITV network, and has been criticised for being unambitious. However, the company has invested an extra 1 million pounds sterling in local programmes. Independents were responsible for just 76 of the 600 programming hours made in 1993.
