The political economy of telecommunications in Malaysia and Singapore: a structure-conduct-performance comparative analysis

Article Abstract:

Both Malaysia and Singapore have technologically-advanced telecommunications systems, albeit providing communication services to different markets due to different political economies. Both countries show outstanding overall market performance although the Malaysian paging market lags behind that of its Singaporean counterpart. The use of the Internet for both countries is low probably due to restricted government policies on information services. But a change may be seen as both Singapore and Malaysia are currently adopting innovative telecommunication programs.
