The erosion of American copyright protection: the Fairness in Music Licensing Act

Article Abstract:

The Fairness in Music Licensing Act of 1998 removes some of the licensing requirements on restaurants and other small businesses using radio transmissions in their establishment. This is unfair to song writers and contrary to copyright law's purpose of encouraging creativity.

RIAA v. Napster: a window onto the future of copyright law in the Internet age

The author reviews the issue of Napster's liability for copyright infringement for allowing users to download music on the Internet. He concludes that Napster is not liable according to the Online Copyright Infringement Liability Limitation Act.
