Evaluating the effects of new telephone tariffs on residential users' demand and welfare. A model for Italy

Article Abstract:

A microeconomic model of residential users' demand for telephone services in Italy indicated a general tendency towards higher access fees, higher local call charges and lower prices of long-distance calls. The model of household demand was estimated to simulate the behavioral implications and benefits of structural changes of the tariff regime. The model showed that under a more competitive environment, the tariff regime for telephone services in Italy is experiencing remarkable changes.
