Article Abstract:
A microeconomic model of residential users' demand for telephone services in Italy indicated a general tendency towards higher access fees, higher local call charges and lower prices of long-distance calls. The model of household demand was estimated to simulate the behavioral implications and benefits of structural changes of the tariff regime. The model showed that under a more competitive environment, the tariff regime for telephone services in Italy is experiencing remarkable changes.

The transformation of local telephone rates in rural and urban areas before and after the Telecommunications Act of 1996 is examined from the data that includes the 1995 and 2000 rates for local services for the lines served by the Bell Operating Companies.

Conjoint analysis method is presented to examine consumer preferences for International Mobile Telecommunications-2000 service in Korea. The results indicate that consumers value video telephony over multimedia mobile Internet and global roaming services.
