Copy-protection policies and profitability

Article Abstract:

Copying is done at a very low cost than producing original, private copying harms the publisher at large by stealing their sales and as such they incur a loss. A list of copy protection policies are mentioned which the publisher can adopt to reduce his losses thus incurred.

The occupational choices of programmers determining the qualities of programs, which are based on reputation incentives, are suggested. The explanation regarding simultaneous existence of commercial and copy left programs, like Windows and Linux are explained.
