Some just don't do Windows

Article Abstract:

Macintosh computers have a relatively small but uniquely devoted following among lawyers. Many experts consider the profession relatively technophobic, and say Apple's Macintosh computers are easier to use, especially for those averse to arcane commands. Mac users say the Macintosh gets more use because of that, and cite further benefits. Networking Macs and adding peripherals is easy, they say, ultimately lowering support costs; software has higher average quality; and Macs support excellent multimedia applications.

Share the pain, share the gain

Article Abstract:

Alternative billing arrangements that link lawyers' fortunes to clients' success are gaining converts, especially as more general counsel warm to the idea. Many experts criticize the traditional billing method that implicitly rewards inefficiency, pitting the lawyer's interests against the client's. In addition to tying rewards to success, incentive billing can be more profitable than the alternative, say some practitioners. A few note that corporate counsel may be reluctant, as they get little credit for savings.
