Article Abstract:
A possible result of the 24-hour Internet connectivity which may eventually be possible if the creation of an online alter-ego of each person which is more than just an e-mail address. This alter-ego would be an extension of ourselves that would not be under our direct control every minute. Considering in advance how intellectual property law might address this development might better prepare lawyers when it actually happens. Copyright, trademark and patent law have an easier time protecting tangible goods, and such goods do not exist in cyberspace.

Computer technology can increase productivity and provide new options for alternative dispute resolution. E-mail and teleconferencing can bring parties together at convenient times. Computer calculations can analyze settlement options and cost of possible litigation. Computer simulations can provide scenarios of possible resolutions. Communicating in cyberspace may decrease the emotional content of negotiations.
