The ethics of insurance agents vs. insurance students: the educational implications

Article Abstract:

The differences in the degrees of professional and personal ethics in insurance agents and insurance students was evaluated using data from practitioners in the state of Florida and enrollees majoring in risk management and insurance. Results revealed that students and professional agents tend to behave in dissimilar ways in particular personal or ethical cases. Both groups were generally shown to behave more unethically in personal situations than in matters concerning business or profession.

Surviving Y2K: a practical primer for reinsurers

Article Abstract:

The six elements of reinsurers' strategy for Year 2000 computer date change problem (Y2K) are presented. The strategy covers six fields that include evaluation of the reinsurer's book of business, awareness of cedents about Y2K risk, assessment of the cedent's underwriting strategy, creation of Y2K underwriting approaches, formation of Y2K claims handling practices and procedures, and tracking of Y2K regulatory, legislative and legal activities.
