One base at a time

Article Abstract:

Companies that successfully incorporate state-of-the-art information technology on a consistent basis usually make a conscious effort to target appropriate technologies and then monitor their usefulness, employing staff especially for this purpose. Unfortunately, this process is usually accidental for most companies - the result of one ambitious manager, in one department, identifying a need and then taking a risk. A successful assimilation strategy examines a product's maturity, strategic relevance and success rate.
