The Internet represents a valuable research tool for company risk management executives. A number of Web sites pertain directly to risk management and can be accessed at no cost. RiskWeb is a general Web page relating to risk management and insurance issues which contains extensive links to supplementary resources of use to the risk manager, including universities and insurance societies. Other, more specific sites containing direct information and resource links include those serving the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and the Internet Disaster Information Center and the WeatherNet.

Article Abstract:
The number of insurance company-sponsored Home Pages on the Internet's World Wide Web has increased, but few of the sites have interactive features that make on-line services a true marketing and distribution channel. Most Home Pages feature only general corporate information as many industry chief executives are skeptical about selling via the Internet. The CEOs are worried about the security and confidentiality of Internet transactions, issues that must be addressed before the Internet can live up to its promise as a marketing venue.

There are several sites on the Internet that can be reviewed for information on the politics and politicians of the US. CBS News has a site named Campaign '96 that provides interesting information but is quite slow to use. The CapWeb site has a great amount of information on the US Congress. There are also electronic mail addresses for legislators.
