Article Abstract:
Managed care plans are effective in situations where only simple diagnosis and routine or preventive care are required. Such plans falter in cases concerning more serious or chronic conditions. In addition, managed care plans are designed to reward performance based on economic incentives, therefore leading to tendencies of abuse. It would be best to dismantle such plans and allow patients to seek care directly from their physicians of choice.
