Electronic forms offer numerous advantages over paper forms and are available today in cost-effective packages. Insurance agents can use electronic forms to speed the underwriting process by submitting applications instantly to the home office. Problems relating to outdated forms are eliminated by electronic forms which can be updated and distributed quickly. Electronic forms can also have rules built into them which help ensure that forms are completely filled out.

Agent associations must recruit new and younger members in order to maintain their membership rates. Associations have trouble attracting members of younger generations who are not as willing to join organizations as previous generations. Double-income families are also less able to spend time volunteering at agent associations. If recruited, younger members can also incorporate technology into the association, and bring older members in line with new advances.

California Insurance Commissioner Chuck Quackenbush has announced that he will reorganize the state Department of Insurance and lay off employees as a result of a $25 mil shortage in revenues incurred by legislative cuts and costly lawsuits. Ninety-five positions will be cut in total. The department will implement additional cost-cutting measures to rebuild revenues in FY 1996-1997.
