The management of labour in Japanese manufacturing plants in China

Article Abstract:

The nature and activities of Japanese manufacturing investments in China are discussed. It was found that the transfer of Japanese manufacturing techniques to China was generally low. In most plants, Japanese investors in China found barriers to transferring Japanese management.

Issues are presented concerning the importance of the maintenance of good interpersonal connections with Chinese subordinates by foreign companies operating in China. A study of 189 supervisor-subordinate dyads is discussed.
