Success can be assured when the membership is involved, a campaign establishes a union's legitimacy, plans are made to continue involvement after an agreement is signed, and there is potential for developing union leaders from the membership.

This article details a survey and the methods used regarding a union election in Illinois. Results showed that if a union member felt a strong identification with the union and its' ideals, the worker would vote for the candidate that had strong union backing.
