Multi-site help line

Article Abstract:

The management of an effective health and safety policy across more than one site in a large organisation depends upon good communication and need not be a complicated process. Safety referees should be appointed at each site or area so that employees have an immediate source of information should an emergency situation occur. An advisor should liaise with managers across sites and advise them of their responsibilities to their staff in terms of fulfilling safety standards and reacting to emergency situations.

Suited for chemicals

Article Abstract:

Companies should be careful in their selection of protective clothing for employees and ensure that employees are aware of how to use such equipment. UK companies are not abiding by the law unless they fulfil these considerations. Fasteners and seams can allow dangerous substances to penetrate. Heat strain can arise from heat trapped by clothing and this can result in death. Rest periods have to be allowed to prevent exhaustion from heat strain.
